Is Scheffler’s Arrest New

The police arrest of Scottie Scheffler (U.S.), the world's No. 1 player in men's golf, has taken a turnaround.

The U.S. media Golf Channel reported on the morning of the 22nd (Korea time) that Louisville police are investigating whether the police officer at the time followed due process in arresting Scheffler during last week's PGA Championship.

Scheffler was arrested near the driveway of the Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, ahead of the second round on the 17th. The competition was delayed by about 80 minutes as he was released after taking photos of his face to identify the culprit. Scheffler reportedly did not follow the police's instructions to deal with the car accident at the time.

At the time, the police arrested Scheffler on four charges of reckless driving, ignoring traffic signals, and assaulting police officers. However, it was pointed out that the police officer's body cam was not working when Scheffler was arrested. According to Louisville police regulations, all police officers must be equipped with body cameras and record all activities. However, this procedure was not followed during Scheffler's arrest.

However, the police officer's body cam was not activated, and CCTV footage showed the scene across the street. "Inside investigation is underway," a Louisville police official said Tuesday, signaling further announcement. In the U.S., assaulting a police officer is a very serious crime.

Scheffler tied for eighth at the PGA Championship despite his chaotic situation, and this week he will participate in the Charles Schwab Challenge (total prize money of 9.1 million U.S. dollars) of the PGA Tour in Texas, where he resides. A trial related to his arrest will take place next month. "There was a big misunderstanding and it will be handled well," Scheffler said.
