Gingerbread Man!

It is Christmas time again! Last year I did The Gingery Collection, a pretty collection of Gingerbread man. It was quite fun making them especially the decoration part! This year I want to repeat the fun and try to make a new collection of gingerbread man ready for the festive season! Ho Ho Ho … Merry Christmas! Same as last time, I will not go into details of the ingredients because they are pretty much the same for those you found online. The one I followed <here> is quite easy and simple to follow. I made a little twist to it because I cannot find all the items listed there.


  • 3 1/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter (room temperature, softened)
  • 1/2 cup dark-brown sugar, packed
  • 1 Tbsp ground ginger
  • 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon finely ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup unsulfured molasses

Simple enough right? Making them are even more easy!

Step 1 – mix the flour, cinnamon, ginger, salt and baking soda into a large bowl. Sift and set aside. You see how I use GLAD Plastic wrap under the bowl right? It is because my table has gaps where flour dust may be able to drop through them. The plastic wrap can act as a table clothe at times. You will see how I use he GLAD Non Stick Cooking Paper as baking sheet as well as a cover on the table to roll the dough.

Step 2 – In another large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until creamy and fluffy then mix in the egg and the molasses.

Step 3 – When blended well enough, gradually mix in the flour in several drops. Use a whisk to fold them flour properly and later use your hand to mix them for a more effective result. Knead them well and ensure all flour in the bowl is mixed.

Step 4 – Once the dough is ready, divide them into three and wrap them individually with GLAD plastic wrap. Place them into the fridge for at least an hour.

Step 5 – Prepare counter top or tabletop for rolling of the dough. Use the GLAD Non-Stick Cooking Paper and lay them on the table. Use a wooden rolling pin to slowly roll out the dough when they are ready.

Step 6 – Roll it flat to a point the dough is about 1/8 inch thick. Time to use the different cookie cutters to cut out the shape you like. Repeat this step for the rest of the two dough in the fridge for chilling.

Step 7 – while rolling out the dough, preheat oven to about 180C. Place the dough on a GLAD Non-Stick Cooking Paper and put into the oven for about 10 mins or golden brownish.

Step 8 – Cool the finished gingerbread man on rack before eating or before you start decorating them with icings! Have fun!
